Lye is actually a natural ingredient that's been used to make soap for thousands of years! It's what transforms oils and fats into the gentle, cleansing bars we love.


Here's the important part — when we make soap the traditional way, the lye completely reacts with the oils during the soap-making process. By the time your soap is fully cured and ready to use, there's no lye left in the bar at all.


Without lye, you can't make real soap. It's like how you need flour to make bread — it's an essential part of the process, but the final product is completely different from the raw ingredient.

Does Skin Restore reverse the crepey skin that's already there?

Our Skin Restore soap isn't a magic eraser for crepey skin that's already set. We want to be completely honest about that.

No, we don't use titanium dioxide in any of our soaps as of August 2025.


We listened to our customers who asked us to remove it, and we're always happy to make changes based on what you want in your skincare products. 

 

Before we removed it, titanium dioxide was only used to help balance the color of our soaps — it was purely for looks, not for any skincare benefits.


We believe in keeping our ingredient lists as simple and natural as possible, so removing ingredients that are just for appearance made perfect sense.

Do you guys have vegan soaps?

We don't currently offer vegan soaps. We use beef tallow in our recipes because it has amazing benefits for aging skin — it's incredibly nourishing and helps keep mature skin soft and healthy.

 

We make sure our beef tallow is sourced respectfully from animals that are raised properly and live full, healthy lives. We believe in using quality ingredients that truly benefit your skin, and tallow has been a trusted skincare ingredient for generations.

Where does it help most with dry crepey skin?

Our Skin Restore Soap is primarily made for crepey skin on the:

  • Neck
  • Décolleté
  • Above the knees
  • Arms/forearms

For other areas like around the eyes, we typically do not recommend use around the delicate eye area. The skin around the eyes is thinner and more sensitive, making it prone to irritation.

Yes, (no really) even though our soap is made with coconut oil (known to clog pores) we use mindful amounts and split the amount in half by incorporating fractionated coconut oil (a refined non-comedogenic alternative). 

 

We also made sure to incorporate 3 different Kaolin Clays to help effectively draw out excess oil from the skin, helping to unclog pores. 

 

However, even with all of these efforts we still recommend performing a patch test if you have very oily or acne-prone skin.
